Bringing smart digital advances into the heart of the home
The rise of connected and automated features has transformed the home appliance space. To remain a category leader, Bosch needed a clear design direction for its evolving ecosystem.
I led the Bosch Vision project, crafting a forward-looking product strategy that helped guide the company’s roadmap and position Bosch for long-term success.

Consumer Interviews, Content Strategy, Information Architecture, Wireframes, Prototyping, Visual Design, and Project Management
Better understanding the current and future demographic
We conducted in-person interviews, and also provided participants GoPro video cameras to record specific activities throughout their days.
Eating healthier was a common goal among all the interviewees, but many expressed concerns that they either didn’t have enough time or feel confident enough in the kitchen to make nutritious meals.

Alignment on key project goals
With Marketing, Brand, and Development team members, I organized and led workshops to generate alignment on project objectives. Activities included identifying where we wanted to be in five years, un-boxing ambiguous ideas, and determining business objectives.
Identification of upcoming trends and technology
We also surveyed trends inside and outside of the home appliance industry for inspiration and direction. We were heavily influenced by automotive, interior, and new tech fields.
The Product Vision
The future concepts we proposed incorporated relevant trends, insights from users, and feedback from key stakeholders.
Below are a few key aspects of this vision:
Increasing brand awareness and loyalty
With big box stores closing, it was important that Bosch find innovative ways to reach newer generations of customers.
By partnering with lodging companies, such as AirBnB, Bosch could install their appliances in rentals around the world. This in turn becomes the new ‘showroom’ experience, where people can test out the high quality and innovation of Bosch appliances.
AR At-Home Experience
With busy lifestyles, it wasn’t always easy for our customers to find time to shop in-store.
We proposed an augmented reality experience that allowed customers to preview Bosch appliances within the context of their own home.
Connected Ecosystem
User interviews strongly indicated that our customers felt strapped for time to accomplish the numerous tasks required for meal preparation.
We designed a less stressful, seamless connected experience for the efforts ranging from buying groceries to cooking a homemade meal.

Product Releases
Since presenting this vision to the global company board, many of the experiences have been developed and released by Bosch, including the Bosch PAI (kitchen projector) and Home Connect mobile app.
